Literal Interpretation of the Bible The first letter of the L.O.V.E. principle stands for literal. Literal interpretation of the verse. The vast majority of the Holy Scripture interprets itself literally. Right where it is written in the verse. Verses like John 3:16 mean what they say and say what they mean. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life". What is the hard part? God means God, love means love, Son means Son and so on. There are no unknown words here, no figurative or metaphorical meanings, no symbols, no difficulty. Perish might sound a bit archaic but it means nothing but lost. So, what could it possibly mean? It takes no guessing, just a pure heart to see that it means what it says, that the biggest act of love God did was the giving of His son, for you and for me. Genesis 1:1 is not different. It interpretes itself literally. Take a look at it: "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." You may ask: when is the beginning? 1.000.000 years ago? 1.000.0000.000.0000 years ago? 10.000 years ago? what do the scientosts say? well it does not matter! it is still in the beginning! The problem is accepting that God did it, not when. And that takes both love and faith. Just read what the verses say, do not read your understanding or your belief system in them. Read the Bible. When and if difficulties arise, they can all be solved by just following the right interpretation principles. Just remember that ALL scripture interpretes itself, it has the tools, the medium and the principles inside of it. It is just like a hologram, you CAN understand it, as long as you have a willing heart to read it.
